Last month, the Dailey Method participated in a Groupon and sold over 1300 two-for-one class deals. I can't say that I'm surprised by the impressive number because the combination of toning, stretching and orthopedic exercises makes the Dailey Method a great workout for those looking for lean, sculpted muscles, tight abs and a nice tush. But it's easy to get discouraged in a Dailey Method class because the movements are tough. You know while you're trying to gracefully not clutch on to that ballet barre for dear life that you're working muscles you never even knew you had and you'll be sore the next day.
So, for the newbies, those that were discouraged by the tough nature of the movements and for those who have yet to try it, here are a few tips for an effective Dailey Method Class.

You'll feel weird at first.
If you haven't tried a barre class or don't have a dance background, many of the curving, tucking and lifting movements will seem completely odd and unnatural at first. You're working the muscles in a different way, so don't worry too much about how it looks or feeling uncomfortable. Instead, focus on the instructor cues and mastering the pelvic tuck, which activates the core, engages the glutes and allows you to do many of the movements more effectively. Remember, yoga probably felt weird when you first started practicing, but now poses like tree, warrior and pigeon, are like second nature, right? Sh-sh-shakin'. When your muscles shake, they're working hard. If you're muscles are working that hard, you're getting stronger. So if you're like me and convulsing in the thigh series, that's actually a good thing! But know your limit and know your body. If you need to take a break, it's better to play it safe. A stretch is on the way! All of the exercises are followed by deep stretching to keep the muscles lean and supple. It's a reward for all your hard work and besides the crazy glute work, my favorite part of the class!

If you missed out on the Dailey Method Groupon deal, first time clients can get an unlimited month for $100 or three classes for $45.
