I'm late to the game with this album (it was released on January 1), but the Yoga Sessions by EarthRise SoundSystem has mastered the balance of being able to go from yoga practice to iPod to chill evening with friends no awkward transitions. From yoga instructor and DJ Derek Beres and producer David "Duke Mushroom" Schommer, the Yoga Sessions is Thievery Corporation's amazing Mirror Conspiracy album meets dubby electronica and global beats that has something for all your moods (I'm personally digging "Rama" and "Marom" featuring Basya Schechter).
Another album not to be missed is Wah's (Wah!) Love Holding Love. Half of the album is beautifully in Sanskrit (her interpretations of "Maha Deva" and "Jaya Ganesha" are infectious) and the other in English set to chill groovy dance tunes.
EarthRise SoundSystem's The Yoga Sessions is out now on Yoga Organix and Wah's Love Holding Love is out on NuTone records. Both albums are available for purchase on Amazon.

Whaaat?! Awesome! Where are you taking classes? Let me know what you think about the albums. Also, I think it'd be cool if we could get a local DJ to do a yoga inspired mix for the blogs. I have a few ideas...

I'm actually taking classes during my last semester at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with Suddha Weixler. He teaches at the Chicago Yoga Center too.. definitely been noticing the physical transformation, which is what I wanted to begin with in preparation for higher spiritual trans... tryin to make it a habit, just started a month ago tho! Shoot me an email if you think I can help with your ideas at gowherehiphop@gmail.com. We should talk soon, maybe at the next meet up or sometime sooner!

Thanks Maya for the recommendation. The music played during yoga is so important to the overall experience. I'm going to download these albums asap so we can play at them @ TheRubHub.com Meetup event next Tuesday. It will be great to network with wellness practitioners and enthusiasts like yourself, and have this chill music in the background. We're excited you are joining us. (meetup.com/TheRubHub)
