I've been missing pilates lately and I'm excited to try all the new cardio, bootcamp, jumpboard and variation classes popping up in studios around town. But as much as I love inventive fusion workouts, I've got mad respect for pilates mat classes. Getting the floorwork down and having an understanding of proper core activation and breathwork is the fastest way to see results and really get an effective workout on the reformer and in other classes. So, that's why the free class of the week is a community pilates mat class at Pilates Chicago on Sunday, November 15.
I had the chance to review this studio a few years ago for CenterstageChicago and I was really impressed. Owners Jen and Matt Zumann are very passionate about the work of Joseph Pilates and are one of the only pilates studios in the city to offer a free class every week simply to promote pilates and a healthy lifestyle in the Rogers Park neighborhood.
The free pilates class takes place on Sundays at 5:30 pm and is great for both beginners and experienced students looking to get back on the bandwagon. If you love it, Pilates Chicago has a ton of great package deals and reasonable class rates.

Pilates Chicago is at 1220 W Morse Ave., about two blocks from the Morse Red line stop. Call to sign up.
