It's hard not to notice Jenn Hogg's butt-- and I mean that in the best possible way. It's round, firm and looks amazing in spandex. So much so that when she and partner James Bach opened their personal training and team training studio, H.E.R.O. Fitness, clients began requesting that Jenn teach a booty toning class. The result: Brazilian Butt, a 45-minute lower body toning session with a bit of abs at the end for good measure.

I had the chance to check out Brazilian Butt last week and I haven't stopped talking about it. Jenn led us through intense exercises, including lunges on a set of specially designed risers that encourage the hamstrings and back of the legs to work, which means less of a chance of overdeveloped quads. The class also incorporates resistance bands and moves on the wall, but mostly you use your own body weight to shape and lift your butt. During and after the class, I experienced that hurts-so-good sensation in my legs and booty and noticed I had to take it easy while climbing the stairs out of the CTA station.

Brazilian Butt is just one of the unique team training offerings at HERO (Helping Everyone Reach Optimal) Fitness. Jenn and James opened HERO as a personal training space where the focus isn't just on ripped abs, but also on improving overall health and physical fitness, hence the advanced equipment like the risers and Keiser machines

Team training classes (up to 8 participants) are open to everyone, so on days that you're not meeting with your trainer you can jump in to one of the martial arts classes, try budokon, tone with resistance bands or sweat it out in kickboxing. There's even HERO Roll, a class that uses the foam roller to relax tight muscles.

Generally, I don't like smaller training studios because I feel odd and self-conscious, but HERO really goes out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable and while I was there I saw all different types of bodies. Plus, HERO gets big points in my book for giving back. The studio regularly hosts free events for members and gives to Step-Up Women's Network, the Special Olympics of Illinois and BUILD Chicago.

H.E.R.O. Fitness is located at 1941 N. Elston Ave.

The studio looks super nice! I may have to check it out; I'm all about achieving a Brazilian butt.

I know! I'm all about cross-training lately to improve my yoga and a firmer booty is always a plus!
