I love the detoxifying, deep sweat of hot yoga classes like Core Power and Bikram, but unfortunately, my poor Eco Rubber yoga mat does not. Realizing my mat was in need of a serious cleaning, I searched online and at studios for the best, eco-friendly way to de-germ my mat and found the answer in local, green company Stirlen Chi.

Started by yoga-enthusiast and Ukrainian Village resident Selena Stirlen, the company makes a line of all-natural home cleaning products, yoga mat spray and biodegradable mat wipes that have a gentle citrus scent and won't leave your mat sticky.
After chatting with Selena, I realized that I could use a lesson on proper mat upkeep (and that I also needed to be a little more conscious about those community mats at gyms and studios), so I asked her to break it down in a how to video (excuse the shaky camera work, it was my first time behind the lens!).
Stirlen Chi products are available at select Whole Foods locations, Moksha Yoga and online at Stirlen Chi and Yoga Accessories.
