Hossa and the Blackhawks embarrass Sharks

I think it's safe to say Marian Hossa's Hawk debut (or Hossa-day)  was a great success.  As if his 2 goals weren't enough, the Blackhawks absolutely dismantled the "best team in hockey" 7-2 in San Jose Wednesday night.  Before the loss, the Sharks had a 7-0-2 record on home ice.

It was an absolute beatdown.  It was Tyson vs everyone in the 80's.  It was Bengals vs Bears.  It was Michael Jordan vs Aaron Gray.  It was beautiful.

The top line in hockey (San Jose's Dany Heatley, Joe Thornton, and Patrick Marleau) was a combined -11 on the night.

If you STILL weren't convinced about the Blackhawks, this should be the clincher.

Everything went the Hawks way.  3 straight shorthanded goals.  Marian Hossa's 2 goals tie him with former Hawk Marty Havlat on the season.  This win is the Hawks 8th straight, including 4 straight on the dreaded "Circus Trip."

Bottom line?  The Blackhawks are the best team in hockey.  Will it mean anything in the playoffs?  Who knows, but the road will be fun.  Hop on and enjoy it Hawk fans.  It's been a long time coming.

Happy Thanksgiving, and thanks for reading my blog.

Before the Sharks got their 2 meaningless goals near the end of the game, Dan Boyle was -5. That, in my opinion, was more telling than the Heatley line combining for -11. When your #1 defenseman is -5 at one point in the game, you should just call it a night.
