Crawford Shuts Out Avs

ddddddddddddddddd.jpg

Things are looking up...for real this time.  A 4-0 victory over Colorado can only help prove my point that the Hawks are coming to form.  Behind Corey Crawford's second consecutive shut out the Blackhawks avoided a season sweep at the hands of the Avalanche.  There are a handful of good things I want to say so I'm not going to beat around the bush. Let's get to it...

Kane continued his point streak tonight assisting on Troy Brouwer's opening marker. As I've noted about these past couple games, Kaner appears to have woken up.  A couple nice scoring opportunities on the spin-o-rama combined with crisp passing and puck possession have reignited the "awe" factor of Kane's game we all remember form seasons past.

There was also some obvious chemistry between him and Marian Hossa that warrants that line being put on the ice in the games to come.  Hossa looked strong tonight too, utilizing his body to maintain puck possession like he always has.

Maybe Q told Dave Bolland it was the playoffs because his better half showed up tonight.  Not even making note of his goal, Bollie's speed and playmaking ability were at a level tonight that hasn't been seen in quite some time.

Seabrook and Keith also showed signs tonight of why they were a pairing for the Canadian Olympic team.  Once again putting stats aside (+4 for each of them), there was notable chemistry between the two of them tonight.  Some nifty soft passes leading to clean breakouts was a pleasure to see as opposed to the usual slamming the puck around the boards.

And the best part is Skille and Pisani scored too.  With the core rolling and the secondary guys scoring goals this team could be everything we hoped it would be coming into this season.

And don't forget Crawford.  He's been pretty good too...

Now let's gear up and take it to the Predators this weekend.  After that the bandwagon will be fully gassed up and rolling into potentially very meaningful matchups with the Red Wings and Flyers.  I can't wait.

Good post, Paul and great to see the Hawks striving forward at this point in time. Everyone on the roster appears to be playing much more consistently and much much more efficient on the PK.

Crawford has been outstanding and so happy for him to achieve 2 consecutive shutouts to his credit for all the hard work he has contributed.

The play of Hendry and Keddy is an absolute bonus to the defensive core and Keith and Seabrook are starting to play much better defensively and making the offensive plays when the opportunities arise. Everyone is contributing more consistently and that is what it takes for the Hawks to remain successful for the remainder of the season.
Hopefully, Q will stay with the lines given in last nite's game as the chemistry seems to be taking hold.
