About Big Ten Guru

There's no doubt that Chicago is the best sports town in history. It's the city that's been home to: the greatest basketball player on Earth, the most iconic Super Bowl team of all-time, the biggest scandal in baseball history, and the most infamous postseason droughts in all of sports. The premier athletic conference in all of sports is headquartered here and the city is host to the NBA Draft Combine every spring.

In short, our news is national news and you can't properly get the big picture until you see the Chicago perspective. It's the national picture with a Midwest focus.

Chicago Sports Guru is written by Paul M. Banks, a journalist who graduated from the University of Illinois, and completed the first year of his MBA at Michigan State.

Banks is the President and CEO of The Sports Bank.net is a webzine covering seven Upper Midwest states featuring commentaries on the most stimulating topics and interviews with some of the biggest names in sports. The year before founding the Chicago headquartered site, Banks was one of a group of twenty young American journalists selected to participate in a Fulbright fellowship program in Berlin.

His work has been featured in numerous media outlets and he's appeared as a guest commentator on Comcast Sports Net, ClearChannel, Chicago Tribune RedEye, ESPN Radio, and Sporting News Radio. Currently, Banks contributes regularly to Walter Football.com and the Washington Times.com, Yardbarker Network and Fox Sports.com

He's also a member of the Football Writers Association of America and the United States Basketball Writers Association. He has seen hundreds of sporting events from press row including the Stanley Cup Playoffs, NCAA bowl games, NBA Playoffs and the 2010 Final Four.
