According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, Matthew Vanderpool, an openly gay 24 year old with only $150.00 in campaign donations and no college degree has won the democratic primary for the 45th District of Kentucky's House of Representatives. A friend of mine from back in Lexington, KY from a few years back, Matthew Vanderpool has done an amazing thing today.
Vanderpool's primary opponent Mark Coblenz, a 50 year old patent lawyer and veteran who raised approximately $6,000.00 for his campaign, were in a race to unseat the incumbent Republican State Representative Stan Lee.
As a fellow gay man, a member of the same generation, and friend I want to congratulate him on this victory and wish him luck in pursuing action towards a better future for Kentucky!
