Goodbye, for now

user-pic
Adewale Ogunleye

I play defensive end for the Chicago Bears.

Yes, this Bear is down. Cue the fat lady, my season is officially over.

During the first series of the second half, I broke my leg. It was a very small crack, something that will be healed in a few weeks. The season has only two weeks in it so I will not be healed in time to finish it out.

Where do I begin?

First let me say this ... I will do everything in my power to return to Chicago. With that said, it's somewhat out of my hands. In the near future my agent and the Bears' management will sit down and discuss whether we fit into each others plans.

Secondly, I want to thank the city of Chicago. I can truly say Chicago has become a home for me. The fans are the best in the world. Doesn't matter what city we travel to ... half the stadium is filled with Chicago fans. I tip my hat to you. Thank you.

I would also like to thank my teammates, Bears ownership and management, the coaching staff and coach Lovie Smith. Coach Smith is a real man, a true leader and a person who deserves more respect than he is getting.

Yes, these last three seasons have not ended like we hoped but how do we forget the good things. Coach Smith brought the Bears back to respectability. You can count on one hand the off-the-field problems the Bears have had since he has been head coach.

I guess in this world of "what have you done for me lately?" the things that truly matter in life get tossed to the side for instant gratification. Oh, well ... goodbye for now.

I look forward to resuming this blog in 2010 (fingers crossed).

'Till then BEAR DOWN!!!

Wale,

You are a first class guy. I have enjoyed rooting for you and the Bears, and of course reading this blog.

Heal up and good luck to you!

Bear Up Wale, God has a beautiful plan for you~ An injury is nothing new to you, you recovered before and you will recover again; your loyalty, strength, pride, dedication and faith, will bring you back "Stronger" than before. Your humility has served an appropriate purpose.

unfinished business * come back next 2010 * what we need is for you and Tommie to keep the offensive linemen occupied so they can not block our linebackers * that is the difference in the defense. i remember when we had tank & the tractor, washington even back when we had the fridge the bears d line was always on the mind of the offensive. now we get blocked & no one gets double teamed so we have blockers on our linebackeers & backs. that has to stop **** we want you back!

A true Bear from the old school of hard knocks defense and someone that I really can't think of one negative thing to say about since he's been a Bear. One heck of a good football player that played on a bunch of lousy teams. Good luck sir and I hope you return, sure is fun to watch you rip quarterbacks apart.

You were the best player on the field in game one. Hope you come back Wale. Merry christmas to you and yours.

Wale,
Having to be transplanted in L.A. is tough--I have to go to sports bars to watch most of the games--but my girlfriend always laughs at me because she knows I love saying your full name when you make a play.
You are unequivocally an asset to this team, and they'd be fools not to have you back. I've always felt you were a core asset to the defense, and I put you up there with the '85 line.

Good luck to you sir. I'll be pulling for you.

Wale, it would be a sad day to see you leave the Bears. You've been a top-notch DE and world class human being off the field. Both Alex and yourself have been brightspots in a dismal season. Hope you get well soon and hope to see you back next year! Happy Holidays!

One thing that we may be lucky with is that hopefully Ogunleye won't be overpaid by the Bears for his mediocre season, at least I hope not; if he stays, it should be at a base salary plus incentives, otherwise, thank you and good bye; nothing personal, he seems like a nice guy, but this is a business, we can not afford to keep overpaying for sub par performers.

i also look forward to seeing you back next season, don't know what we'd do without you. In the offseason you can come enjoy the continued success of the best semi-pro team in the Chicagoland area, the Stallions of Country Club Hills. Our defense is inspired by the monsters of the midway and we are 32-3 over the last two seasons. Come check us out stallionfootball.net.
