The Bears will have the last laugh

Adewale Ogunleye

I play defensive end for the Chicago Bears.

E-mail me here. I will be answering your questions about the Bears and life in the NFL every week on my blog.

That's me waking up on my off days this past week. I needed the rest. This past Sunday, Minnesota won and they are now 5-0. They looked good.

Detroit lost and are still searching for their second win of the season.  They played Pittsburgh tough.

Lastly, the Green Bay Packers had their bye week. I am sure they needed the rest as much as we did. (In football we all look forward to the bye week, no matter when it is.)

Just a year ago people laughed at the NFC North division. Now our division is one of the best in the NFL. If you exclude Detroit, the NFC North has lost only 3 games in the first quarter of the season.

Of those 3 losses, Green Bay lost to Minnesota and we all know what happened with us vs. Green Bay. That means only one loss was given by these three teams to a team outside the division.

I say this because it looks like this season is shaping up into a very exciting one where every game will count. Stay Tuned!!!

I have a funny story to share ... I was in O'Hare airport traveling to NY to attend my sister's wedding. I was approached by a Packers fan and a Bears fan. They work together keeping the airport pretty and clean.

The Packers fan wanted to let me know she liked the way I have been playing but still informed me that the Packers "are the best team in the NFL" (typical Packers fan). I just rolled my eyes at her.

The Bears fan asked me if I could please go into the restroom and change my shirt. Quite puzzled I asked "Why?". He said, "because you wearing a GREEN polo shirt and Bears players shouldn't own a drop of green clothing." I'm guessing he dislikes green because he hates the Packers. Now that's funny.

Ok, this week, back to work. We have the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football. They manhandled a very good San Francisco team this past Sunday. Our hands will be full but that's always the case in the NFL.

Till next time ... BEAR DOWN!!!

Good post, Wale! I agree with the Bears fan about the green clothing (unless it's St. Patrick's Day). I live in PA and don't wear green ever, which is my personal protest against not only Green Bay, but the Eagles as well.

Kick some butt Sunday!! I was lost last Sunday!! :)

Great story Wale. A few weeks ago I was part of a joint bachelor/bachelorette party with a "white trash" theme. Only time I've ever donned a (kids' medium)Packers shirt. And yes all disposing rituals were followed exactly the following morning.

I'm with sjvl, totally out of step last Sunday. Let's get em Wale!!!! Go Bears!!!!
