As you walk into Perimeter Gallery, you immediately will be happy. Who doesn't get a smile on their face when they see splashes of colors and circles, everywhere! The colors range from blacks, whites and grays, to cotton candy-like pinks and teals, to vivid greens and blues- a wide array of emotion as you can imagine. For some strange reason, 'circles' are a very playful form therefore might bring back some wonderful thoughts. In each of Keiko's paintings, you will sense the special qualities she provides.
I was lucky enough to meet Keiko as she was working on a painting downstairs of Perimeter Gallery. She was a breath of fresh air -so kind and so absolutely passionate about her work. The first thing I had asked was what the circles in her work represent? She said, "The circles act like a doorway and invite you to go into the piece. They are a contradictory aspect of the depth of life and death". She has been fascinated with forms and shapes and brought up Francis Bacon and his choice of framing his subjects- very obscure and square-like. She has been playing with oval shapes and abstraction for quite some time now and states that it is just her way of framing other works in and around the space. She brought up physics and spoke a little of the moon. Keiko has a vivid mind and a strong sense of her surroundings.

You will also see a few landscape pieces that Keiko has been experimenting with. She mentioned a painter from Japan who she currently is inspired by his brush strokes and obscurity. She said these landscape paintings are almost her way of investigating his content. She had said so much more, and I recommend that when you do visit Perimeter, make sure to speak with her. You won't ever forget her.
