One of the most difficult parts of online dating can be planning the first meeting. Sometimes it seems like a guy might want more of a chat buddy than an actual date. And you end up chatting for weeks and weeks before meeting, if you even meet at all. Picking a spot to meet can be even more difficult.
Where to meet other singles Archives
Most people need to do a little shopping during the holidays. A lot of people wouldn't mind having someone to do that shopping with. And many singles wouldn't mind spending an evening meeting (and flirting with) new people. Well, the awesome news is that I just found out about an event that combines all of the above.
A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet Sam Yagan, the CEO of OkCupid for breakfast. We had a pretty fantastic talk about dating, specifically online dating. Seems logical right? I mean what else would the CEO of an awesome dating site and a dating blogger talk about?
We talked a lot about OkCupid and other dating sites and he asked some of the things I like about OkCupid. Aside from the fact that I seem to find some amazing blogging fodder from the site (aka the DTF guy and the guy who offered me free pie), I also said that I like that there is an instant messaging service because I feel like you can weed out creepers without giving them personal information.
I mentioned a few weeks ago about my plan to start a new feature on my blog. Just as a little refresher, the idea was to go to some of the awesome bars in Chicago to check out the mingling potential. Well, last Friday the fun began and I'd like to say it was a pretty interesting time. Check out the recap.

Last night, I went to the Single in the City event at the Whole Foods in Lincoln Park. They provided a few samplings of some yummy foods from Whole Foods (including some sort of mango salsa that I might be a bigger fan of than I thought). There was also samples of some pretty tasty cocktails which is always awesome in by book. And of course there were goody bags and a raffle for prizes.
The Whole Foods in Lincoln Park is pretty well-known as a really fantastic place to meet singles in Chicago. Given that fact and the huge success of the singles event at the Gold Coast location, Whole Foods has decided to host a Single in the City Event at the Lincoln Park location.
Here are all the details - come on out and meet someone new.
When: Thursday, June 3 from 630pm-830pm
Where: Whole Foods Lincoln Park (1550 N. Kingsbury Street)
There will be specialty cocktails, a photo booth, interactive ice breakers, Cubs ticket and spa package giveaways and more. And as an added bonus there is also an after party at Sully's which is right down the street. The event is free, but please RSVP here.

Well, the All The Single Ladies and Sex and the Windy City event was this past Saturday and I have to say it was a blast. Everyone drank, played games and mingled.
Thank you to everyone who came out to the event and to everyone who helped make the event possible.
And, of course, thank you again to all of our fantastic sponsors.

Singles, in groups of six, meet up at restaurants throughout the city for a little socializing. The events are organized by age groups and take place on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. This gives you an opportunity regardless of age or how busy you are to mingle with some other people. Plus, even if you don't meet anyone, you still get to dine on some awesome food. Sounds like a win-win situation there.
Spots are filling up fast, so check out their website to register and to find information on future events.
