Printable Christmas scavenger hunt clues for gift-finding fun, 2017 edition

Drumroll, please! I am proud to present the fifth annual Between Us Parents Christmas Scavenger Hunt! I'm happy to share this family tradition that I've enjoyed since I was a little kid and my dad wrote fantastic rhymes that kept us busy on Christmas Eve to find the one present we were permitted to open that evening.

You can download the printable PDF with this year's clues by clicking here.

Once the PDF opens, print it, then cut the clues so that you have strips of paper to hide in each location.

Pro tip: When hiding clues, start at the last one and work backwards through the hunt.

It should look like this:

You can click to find prior clues from 2013, 20142015, and 2016.

Each hunt has 10 clues, with each hunt ending at the Christmas tree. Other than that final destination, no other stops are repeated. Yes, all together there are 46 different locations.

With that many locations, it's possible that not all of them will be accessible in your home. (Though really, I do try to come up with places/items found in most households, I promise.)

If you don't have one of the locations accessible in your home, no worries! Just take out that clue. If you want, you can  you can sub in other clues from other years.

Other variations are combining a few years into one long hunt, or having  individual hunts for up to five people.

This year's clues are a little more challenging than those in the past. As kids get older, you can up the degree of difficulty. Fear not, though, this year there is also an answer key. If you want to fill in the blanks to make it easier, you can do so. Here's how the rhymes match up:

name - picture frame
fans - pots and pans
vandal - candle
share - chair
plunge - sponge
haste - toothpaste
please - keys
drank it - blanket
larger - charger

Wishing you a happy hunt and holidays full of love and joy!
