The Good Dinosaur is the Disney-Pixar film that opens in theaters today and it asks the question, "What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?" It tells the story of a cute apatosaurus named Arlo and his adventures with Spot, a feral human who acts a lot like a dog, at his side.
My teen and I both liked The Good Dinosaur, and found it to be a visually stunning and sometimes very emotional movie. The most moving portions of the film for me involved no dialogue, a testament to the visual storytellers at Pixar.
That said, there were some good quotes from The Good Dinosaur. Here are our favorites, along with some images from the film:
The Good Dinosaur was full of more action and adventure (and a bit more violent) than we anticipated, but it still pulled at our heart strings and we needed tissues.
It's not quite at the level of Inside Out, but, that said, it does address the importance of family and dealing with our fears, two issues that I think are central to parents older kids.
While it doesn't rank as our favorite Pixar film ever, it's still a solid movie to see with your family over the holiday. I bet you'll leave appreciating that you're in each other's circle.
