11 facts about Labor Day and its origins

Hooray for Labor Day weekend! For many, the holiday marks the end of summer. The origins of the holiday, however, have less to do with seasonal shifts and much more to do with labor movement and the need for a respite from grueling work schedules and conditions. In talking about the reason for the long weekend with my tween, she said she new that Labor Day was about working, but not a whole lot else so we looked up the facts below about Labor Day in the United States.
