Will you pray for the the exorcism of gays today?  Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield will do that and more as he offers prayers for the “exorcism in reparation for the sin of same-sex marriage” today at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield, Illinois.

Exorcism is a very strong word and though it brings forth images (some people would say laughable images) of the movie, The Exorcist, the Catholic Church takes this very seriously.

The term "exorcism"" does NOT always denote a solemn exorcism involving a person possessed by the devil. In general, the term denotes prayers to "curb the power of the devil and prevent him from doing harm."

What this comes down to is evil.  If we believe that evil can affect someone and make them commit acts against God, we better all be on our knees praying and not just for homosexuals.  Our top priority should be praying for priests who commit acts of abuse against children, young adults and even consenting adults.

We should also remember in prayer the priests who have been falsely accused and those who have falsely accused them.
