The Boston Marathon Explosion

Another tragedy:  the Boston Marathon Explosion.

Here's an amazing video of the first explosion.

“As reports of death and injuries are reported, we ask you to please turn to the Lord each time to pray for them and for those who love them that they would receive the consolation of the Holy Spirit, the mercy of God, and the loving maternal embrace of our Blessed Mother.

Please join us in prayer for all those injured at the Boston Marathon today and for the emergency workers who protect and care for us all.

May the Risen Lord have mercy on us today.” - The Archdiocese of Boston

If you are having trouble finding the words to pray, may I suggest St. Francis of Assisi's (1181-1226) Peace Prayer:

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace;

where there is hatred,

let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is discord, union;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

to be consoled as to console,

to be understood, as to understand;

to be loved, as to love;

for it is in giving that we receive,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born

to eternal life.

Some wise words from Mr. Rogers:

"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers.  You will always find people who are helping."   To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother's words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers - so many caring people in this world."
