The Solemnity of Christ the King

There's a lot of talk in today's readings on the Solemnity of Christ the King about a ruler, a kingdom and royalty.  These are words we usually associate with England and other countries that still have a monarchy.

In Catholicism, we mean the kingdom of heaven, not here on earth and that's where the line gets a bit blurred.  We have just entered into the season of buying.  Retailers are begging for our dollars, flooding our mailboxes and emails with coupons and the lure of deep discounts.

During the next four weeks, it's going to be tough to focus.  This short quote might help you keep that focus:

Think well.  Speak well.  Do well. These three things, through the mercy of God, will make a man go to Heaven. - St. Camillus de Lellis
