The Blindness of Bartimaeus

Long before I became Catholic, the hymn, Amazing Grace, stirred my longing for something bigger than myself.  The lyrics, "I was blind, but now I see," seemed just out of range for me.

Today's Gospel speaks of Bartimaeus, a blind man, who "sees" Jesus and calls out to him for physical healing.

Once, I was introduced to Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church, my "blindness" fell away, and I was physically and emotionally healed:  repeatedly.
