My Prayer for Today

My Prayer for Today
Picture from EWTN

I am a happy Catholic.  I keep telling myself that.  And most of the time, I am.  But there are days when the slings and arrows of comments made by others brings tears to my eyes.

Lord, help me to be more like you.  You suffered far more than just hurtful verbiage.  You suffered physical torment beyond what a movie can portray.  When the words hurt, help me to stay grounded in Your Love and to forgive those that inadvertently or purposely hurt me.

And Lord, if I'm the one doing the slinging, whack me upside the head, will ya?

"You'll gain more with an affectionate word than you ever would with three hours of quarreling. Control your temper." -St. Josemaria Escriva

  • Another quote comes to mind, when the comments bring tears; that is, "Love your enemies". That's a damned hard one to do. The hardest.

It is also not rational, in a philosophical sense. Hee, hee.
