Jesus said to his disciples:
For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
Be sure of this: if the master of the house
had known the hour of night when the thief was coming,
he would have stayed awake
and not let his house be broken into.
So too, you also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come. - Matthew 24:42-51
I sometimes feel like Homer Simpson. Passed out cold and unprepared.
I think we all go through phases in our spiritual life. There are times when I'm exhilarated beyond words. I'm flying high on Our Lord, His Mother and the Holy Spirit! Then I'm in the desert and I'm wondering where Our Lord is. I feel totally abandoned even though I know it's not true.
In the past, when I've had a crisis I think about all the rosaries and prayers I've said, and I think to myself, "That's what prepared me for this. My strength comes from those prayers that I prayed when I had peace."
Regardless of where we're at, we still have to be prepared and awake for His coming.
Are you prepared?
