It took me years to acknowledge God in my life. I saw glimpses of Him often, but I still had doubts and fears. Sometimes I still do.
Just Say Yes!
Yesterday's responsorial Psalm's refrain was, "Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will." In the day's Gospel, Mary says to the angel Gabriel, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word."
Have you said those words? Have you answered God's call? Or did you turn away when you thought you heard God's voice? Were you afraid to answer? Were you sure it was Our Lord beckoning or did you have doubts?
Mary was troubled and afraid by what she heard and she questioned Gabriel, but she said yes.
But when I'm afraid, I often turn to Mary. She has been my Mother when I needed one. I call her often in my Hail Mary's throughout the day and in my evening prayers. She knows that sometimes I hesitate in my "Here I Am Lord," so she stands behind me, gently nudging me forward and whispering in my ear, "It's okay. Say yes."
