My brother is in the army, this will be his first Christmas away from the family. It's a total bummer. He is one of those folks who really enjoys Christmas.
My brother misses his family and hometown a lot. All his comrades in Afghanistan feel the same way. To help them celebrate the holidays, I had to do something more than just send a care package (I did that too, but still.) I decided to make a video for my brother and his comrades, and I let a bunch of strangers in Chicago participate.
I have to say this... noooooo city in the world could possibly have better people in it than Chicago. Folks were happy to show the troops love. Good stuff.
If you wanna send some kind words to the troops, drop a comment on this video's Youtube page as soon as you can. (Directed to the soldiers, of course, not to me!) My brother is in charge of his squad and he shares everything with them, so when they are able to get online again his platoon will probably see what you write.
For the infantry, being away from home during the holidays for the first time is really tough. If you wanna show some Christmas Eve love to our soldiers, drop a comment on the video's Youtube page. No matter what your views are on the war (I have SO MANY VIEWS on it) the troops deserve to know that their service is appreciated. I think that's something we all can relate to, don't you?
