Today, as I walking into the studio, my guitar player (who's also my co-producer's assistant) asked me "So...you're really doing this No Jiggle July thing, huh?" I reluctantly said "Yeah. Just...yeah." LoL! Its not that getting in better shape isn't an exciting idea to me. Hurray and all. I think my reluctance is because of the fact that these days I am SO busy that it's hard to make time to workout everyday. I'm learning to delegate responsibilities to other people in my camp so that I can make time to do the things that are important to me, like working out so that I can continue performing in underwear and garters.
My biggest fear is that when I start traveling again in about a week and a half, I'll have trouble making time to exercise then, too (as if New York and Atlanta don't have an abundance of gyms and fitness studios. LoL.) In spite my worrying, I am still committed to doing this challenge. This is the most recent message that Chicago Fit For Life has publicized to us "No More Jiggle July" participants.
There are so many people who have taken on the "No More Jiggle July" challenge. The U.S. has taken a look at the person in the mirror and they are ready to make that change (two obvious MJ references, I still miss him!) So for the entire month, you have committed to giving up alcohol, eating 1 high fiber food a day, and 30 minutes of cardio. Here are the next set of rules to add to "No More Jiggle July" that you should start July 10th and continue until the 31st.
1 salad or 1 cup of soup a day: Consuming lesser calories than expended is the secret to losing weight and keeping it off. So at least once a day have one or the other.
Research out of Penn State shows that eating a first-course salad can reduce overall calorie intake at a meal by up to 12 percent. Another study showed that people who started lunch with vegetable soup ended up eating 20 percent less than those who skipped the soup.
Choose low-fat, high-fiber and low-calorie soups and salads when dieting. Opt for broth-based soups or vegetables purees rather than creamy ones. Eat soups with lean meat for a main dish, or healthy and high-fiber beans. Salads should include plenty of leafy greens and fresh vegetables, but go light on cheese, nuts, eggs, and high-fat dressings. Opt for lemon or lime juice, balsamic vinegar or lower fat dressings or order your dressing on the side and use a small amount.
50 Body weight squats 3 days out of a week (if you do not have knee problems): Squats build your entire body because the more muscles you use in an exercise, the more natural muscle-building hormones you release into your body. 256 muscles are activated when you perform 1 squat, the most in any exercise.
Squats target (your core and legs) and the 2 most important parts of your body. Your legs keep you standing upright and your core helps balance your entire body. Without either of them, you can't walk!
If you don't know what they look like go to youtube or google and search body weight squats. Perform before your cardio routine.
