The only two games that really matter to Trestman

When Love Smith was around, he set forth three goals for the Bears. His first goal was to beat the Packers. He felt that the path to win the division, which was his second goal was through the Packers. While he was successful earlier in his tenure, the Packers got the best of the Bears towards the end of his coaching career. Lovie's third goal was to win the Super Bowl... and we know that didn't didn't happen.

While attending the Coaches Show at the Walter Payton Center last night, one thing stood out to me. During commercial break, a fan asked Coach Trestman what the two most important games were to win, alluding to the rivalry against the Packers. Trestman answered, "the NFC Conference Championship and the Super Bowl."

Trestman is not downplaying the rivalry against the Packers but prioritizing the importance of the only two games that mattered to the organization, the city, and the 4th Phase... the NFC Conference Championship and the Super Bowl.

The Chicago Bears need all four phases (offense, defense, special teams and the fans) of the game to work together to pave the way to victory. This is the unofficial 4th Phase blog. You can follow the blog on Twitter, @4thPhase or #4thPhase.
