The Hurry Up Offense is a new weekly feature on the 4th Phase Blog about the latest rumblings from Halas Hall. We'll tell you the headline and give you our opinions.
Here we go...
Cutler: "everything is on track"
Cutler got the stitches removed from his surgically repaired thumb. During the surgery he was asked to grip a sterilize football to ensure the proper placement of the pins and screws.
He is working on his grip and is hoping to throw in a couple weeks. Let's hope for the best and prepare for the worst. If Caleb Hanie and keep the Bears in the playoff picture, I don't see Cutler rushing back. If the Bears are holding on to dear life, hopefully Cutler will be ready to save the day.
Mike Martz wants to return to the Bears next season
It makes perfect sense for Martz to leave after the season. He declined a one-year extension for two reasons -- 1) it was for the same money; 2) he was holding out for a future head coach opportunity.
Although Martz has gotten Cutler killed with his seven step drops, Cutler has progressed in his second year with the "Genius". If Martz left for the rumored Jaguars' job, a third offensive coordinator in Cutler's four seasons with the Bears could slow his progression. For this, part of me wants Martz to stay.
Matt Forte gets treatment to heal faster
Forte got a platelet rich plasma (PRP) injection because it supposedly will help his injury heal faster. He didn't give us a timetable of when he'll return nor should he.
Just like the Bears made a right business decision by not offering the money Forte wanted, Forte doesn't have to rush back to action for fear of re-injuring his knee and missing out on a big pay day. I do think Forte will play when he can and and not use his contract dispute get in the way.
