Coming into the game, the Bears were 8 point underdogs. Talk about a lack of respect. Not one columnist from the Chicago Tribune picked the Bears to win. On ESPN, only Coach Ditka picked the Bears. This game was not as close as the 30-24 suggests. No one respects this team and gives them credit. Its about time they do.
The offensive line continues to improve every week. They didn't allow a sack, only the second time in Jay Cutler's time with the Bears that breaks 29 consecutive games in which Cutler was sacked.
Earl Bennett was targeted for 5 times and came away with 5 receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown. In a post game interview, Cutler seemed very happy to have Bennett back on the field. Cutler looks like a different quarterback when he's protected and with Bennett in the lineup.
Matt Forte rushed for 133 yards but coughed it up that resulted in 14-0 Eagles' points.
There was so much talk about the Eagles' speed on offense. What goes under the radar is the Bears' defensive speed especially upfront.
The Bears only "officially" recorded one sack and two quarterback hits but the Rush Men were disruptive enough to make Michael Vick nervous and all the coverage to make the pockets in the zone to disappear.
This was the first true test for both Major Wright and Chris Conte as the Eagles have speedy wide recievers who can stretch the field. Wright had a pick but also whiffed on McCoy. Conte had a relatively quiet night and that's a good thing.
Robbie Gould's first kickoff went out of bounds that put the ball on the 40 yard line, after the bears' silenced the rowdy Philly crowd. He recovered and had a decent game nailing three field goals, including a 51 yarder. Gould moved past Walter Payton on the team's all time scoring list.
After the Forte fumble, the Bears were in jeopardy of letting the game get out of control. Corey Graham stripped DeSean Jackson on the ensuing punt that kept the game in the Bears' favor.
Johnny Knox and Devin Hester were none factors in the return game. Credit goes to the Eagles for locking them down.
