Opportunity Knocks For Wright And Conte

After poor safety play this past Sunday, veteran safeties Brandon Meriweather and Chris Harris were benched. Major Wright and Chris Conte will step in their place.

For Meriweather and Harris, I'm sure their disappointed. Both can play at a high level and they've been the victims of a lack of a pass rush. They're veteran leadership will be counted on as the season progresses.

For Wright and Conte, it's their opportunity to shine. Wright was last year's third round draft pick out of Florida. He has good size and speed and is an instinctive player. From what the 4th Phase has seen from him, he's a sound tackler and shows a lot of promise. He hasn't been able to stay healthy since being drafted so we haven't seen that much from him.

Conte was this year's third round pick out of California. He's contributed on special teams and has been used sparingly on defense. As a rookie, this is probably his dream come true. Now it's up to him to make the most of his opportunity.
