Bears convert on third downs, protect Cutler in loss

The Bears lose to the Titans but who cares? The offense looked good. The defensive line showed their depth. Matt Forte continues to prove that he's deserves to get paid.

1st Phase

The first team offense converted 5-of-7 on third down. The offensive line protected Jay Cutler as he threw for 171 yards and was 13 for 21.  Matt Forte ran for 74 and averaged 4.4 yards per carry with a touchdown.  Earl Bennett grabbed six passes for 89 yards and is emerging as the guy Cutler trusts the most.

2nd Phase

The defensive line showed their depth as the entire unit kept the pressure on Titans' quarterbacks. Amobi Okeye recorded his third sack of the preseason and looks to be the three technique the Bears have needed since the healthy Tommie Harris was here.

3rd Phase

They did block a punt but the Titans kicker did recover the blocked punt and ran for a first down to keep the drive alive. Robbie Gould continues to show his improved kicking power although he did miss a chip shot.

The Chicago Bears need all four phases (offense, defense, special teams and the fans) of the game to work together to pave the way to victory. This is the unofficial 4th Phase blog. You can follow the blog on Twitter, @4thPhase or #4thPhase.
