The #4thPhase Is Getting Ready For The Draft
The NFL Draft is upon us! With the Bears picking at 29, there's no sure bet on who they will pick. Conventional wisdom tells us they will pick the best player available for what they need.
Obviously, the Bears need help at offensive line. Before we jump into adding to our wish list, Jay Cutler was sacked nearly 60 times - getting knocked out of the Giants game and severely spraining a knee in the most important game of the season against our hated rivals up north.
Another possibility, is drafting a defensive lineman. Although the Bears defensive line played well throughout the year, it was a result of Julius Peppers' dominance. Peppers can't do it alone. He needs another defensive lineman to bring the heat.
Getting Cutler a wide receiver that can develop into a number one could also be an option. Cutler is looking for, as he mentioned, "a go up and get it guy". One intriguing option is Jonathan Balwin from Pittsburgh. He is 6'5, 225 and has a 42 inch vertical and runs a 4.5 40 yard dash. He is would be my pick.
There is also a need for a cornerback. The Bears don't have a shutdown cornerback and don't really have depth. With the Packers winning the Super Bowl last season, the Bears will be looking to make upgrades through the draft and potentially through fee agency.
It should be an exciting night for the #4thPhase! Here's what they're saying on Twitter:
