The Bears made their final cuts today to trim their roster to 53. Among those cut were offensive lineman Josh Beekman, who was supposed to be the heir apparent to Olin Kreutz. Safety
Al Afalava, who was drafted last year in the sixth round and started last season was cut. To everyone’s surprise, special teams standout Tim Shaw was sent packing. Last year’s top draft picks, defensive lineman Jarron
Gilbert, who’s claim to fame was his YouTube video where he jumped out of a pool, and wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias also received their pink slips.
They also cut veteran tight end Richard Angulo, quarterback Dan LeFevour (drafted in the sixth round earlier this year), fullback Eddie
Williams, receivers Freddie Barnes and Greg Mathews, tackles James
Marten and Levi Horn, center Tim Walter, defensive end Barry Turner,
defensive tackles Edwin Williams and Mick Williams, linebackers Kevin
Malast and Kelvin Smith, cornerbacks Cornelius Brown and Woodny Turenne
and safeties Quentin Scott and Aaron Webster.
