What's new at Soldier Field this year

In an email to the 4th Phase, the Chicago Bears gave us the heads up on what's new at Soldier Field:

As we make final preparations for the 2010 Bears season at Soldier Field, we wanted to provide some important reminders and tell you about some exciting additions to your in-stadium experience:

Any type of bag, purse or backpack brought into the stadium MUST fit into the 12"x12"x12" template box at each gate. Any bag larger than the template box will not be permitted into the stadium. All bags will be searched and tagged if necessary. The Bears and Soldier Field management cannot safeguard any prohibited items.

The texting short code has been changed to 69050. Text the keyword "Bears", followed by a space, describe the issue and exact location where assistance is needed to 69050. Stadium personnel will be dispatched to provide assistance.

"Family Friendly" (alcohol-free) full-season coupon parking will be available in an area close to the Adler Planetarium parking lot.

A new Bears Pro Shop is being built in the South Courtyard and should be ready in the early part of the regular season.

To avoid some lines in restrooms - especially at peak times - the large, Service Level restrooms will continue to be a great alternative. You can find the ramp to these restrooms behind the Doughboy statue in the South Courtyard.

A huge 40-yard by 20-yard 4th Phase flag will be displayed on the field during player introductions before each game as another way to acknowledge and celebrate the strong support we get from you, our 4th Phase. Approximately 100 flag holders per game will be made up of Season Ticket Holders, recipients of the Hometown Handoff tickets and other Community Relations initiatives, sponsors and other invited guests.

All fans will enjoy enhanced communication and in-game statistics featured in the four (4) new end zone LED signs. The LED signs will be installed in the early part of the 2010 season.

The two-year conversion of new HD flat panel TV's has begun with the Comcast Bears Den, Miller Lite Party Deck, United Club and Suites, with the remainder of the conversion to be completed by 2011.

The Bears Ultimate Tailgate will continue this season beginning two (2) hours before each of the first four (4) regular season home games outside the stadium on the southeast lawn.

Fans can check their fantasy stats and enjoy some great giveaways in the enhanced interactive area in the Comcast Bears Den.

There's also a cool new souvenir cup that celebrate the Monsters of the Midway, something Lovie Smith aspires this year's Bears to become. On the cup there's free shipping promo code (MONSTERS) that can be used in the Bears Pro Shop online store.

Now if the Chicago Park District and the Chicago Bears would agree to install field turf...
