Both Jay Cutler and Devin Hester want to be great players at their respective positions. Both have the talent to do so and are going to do everything they can from now until training camp to work to realize their potential in Mike Martz's offense.
With 5 weeks until the start of training camp, Cutler is going to stay in Chicago, work
out at Halas Hall and learn from Mike Martz. When speaking with Waddle
and Silvy on ESPN 1000, Cutler said that Martz continues to add more
plays to the playbook. Of Martz, Cutler said that he makes you want to
work. He loves the creativity and believes in the offense. Cutler has also mentioned that he texted Kurt Warner earlier in the
year and plans to be in touch to pick his brain.
Hester recently told reporters that he took the initiative to call Isaac Bruce and talked with him about Martz's system. Hester, just like
Bruce, will play the Z position, often lining up on the tight end's
side. He is starting to grasp Martz's offense and will have plenty of questions for Bruce. Hester will be in South Florida to get married and host a couple
football camp so he'll be pretty busy up until training camp. Good thing
for Hester is that Bruce lives in South Florida.
Cutler has tendencies to remind us of Rex Grossman and no one is really
sold on Hester. Both of them sound like they are willing to put in the
work to be elite players.
