We're used to the national media being overly critical of the Bears during the
offseason. We heard plenty of criticism from both the national and Chicago media
during the season and rightfully so. Now we're hearing criticism from our very own when the season hasn't even begun.
A couple weeks ago, Gale Sayers commented on the Bears roster, Jay Cutler and Brian Urlacher. He
wasn't sold on the current roster and they needed receivers and defensive backs, he said Cutler got paid and didn't perform and commented on how Urlacher was past his prime and getting old... which is all true.
Sayers' comments bothered Urlacher fired back and said that Sayers never
won anything and didn't know how to win games.
You can look at this war of words in couple ways. Sayers is ne of the
best of all time and a Hall of Famer and his opinions should be
respected. Some think Sayers is a bitter player who wished he had a
longer career, played in today's NFL and made way more coin. Others think that Urlacher should have thicker skin and grow up.
Here's what people said on Twitter when I asked, "What are you reactions
to Gale Sayers' criticism on Brian Urlacher?":
@BearsSTH Urlacher was right. If sayers is able to dish out heat, he should be able to take some too.
@BearsSTH It is out of turn and disrespectful for Sayers to be commenting so critically of Urlacher and the team, he is not there!
