CHICAGO BEARS JOB OPENINGS: Pt 1

We start with the search for the Bears QB coach which could prove to be interesting.  The main thing that I was encouraged to hear was that new OC Mike Tice was looking to establish an offense that leans toward the running game, but yet have the full capacity to make big plays. This was the kind of offense Ed Hughes ran in 1985 (the last time the Bears won a Super Bowl Championship).

QB Coach Candidates:

Clyde Christensen - Colts offensive coordinator.

CBE Perspective -  Worked with Payton Manning under coaches Caldwell & Dungy.  Was also in Tampa Bay in 2001 (Dungy’s last year).  Only 1 standout year (2010 where Indy’s Offense was ranked #4 in yards & points, and #1 in passing yards).  Christensen’s other years 2001 & 2011, the offense was ranked in the very high 20’s.

-NO GO

Greg Olson - former Buccaneers offensive coordinator.

CBE Perspective – Very marginal record.  Olson’s best year was 2006 in St. Louis where his offense was ranked 6th in yards & 10th in points.  All other years were in the high 20’s.  Has spent his last three years with Tampa Bay.

*Jedd Fisch - University of Miami offensive coordinator.  Fisch, also was a member of the Broncos coaching staff when Cutler played there.  Fisch interviewed for the Bears quarterbacks coach opening in 2007 but the team hired Pep Hamilton instead. Hamilton was fired after the '09 season.  Fisch also was the QB Coach in Seattle under Pete Carroll where he coached Matt Hasselback in his last year where the Seahawks were in the playoffs and beat the defending champs that year (the New Orleans Saints).  Fisch was hired as the Miami OC in 2011 after the 2010 NFL season.

*FISCH IS A GO!
