Today according to the Bear Reports "Bleacher-report", Jerry Angelo and his new partner in crime (Tim Ruskell) will be looking to address the Bears offensive -line woes in the draft. Much has already been said regarding Angelo's "main" focus during the Combines.
The BR also made mention of the possibility that Bears may very well be interested in Eagle "free-agent" center Nick Cole. My response to this is: "Don't chase another Orlando Pace"...
Cole has been in the league for 5 seasons now, and he's "never" been selected to the Pro-Bowl. Plus, Coles played for one of the leagues "weakest" O-Lines in Philly (next to our rag-tag crew).
No, we need not chase that rainbow! On the other hand, Angelo and Ruskell seem to have a good game plan from the combines, and into the actual draft. BR's Mock Draft looked something like this:
- OT Derek Sherrod from Miss. State
- OG Marcus Cannon from TCU
- LB Quan Sturdivant from North Carolina
- DE Greg Romeus from Pitt
- OG Justin Boren from Ohio State
- DT Cedric Thornton from So. Arkansas
"Rumor" also has-it that Illinois "Stud" OLB Martez Wilson is "very" interested in playing for his "hometown" favorite team, The Chicago Bears (see article). Wilson could be the perfect fit in terms of being the "pass-rushing" OLB that we so desperately need opposite the great Lance Briggs.
Don't worry about the rest of the offense, the Bleacher Report (several days ago), also mentioned 5 WRs that were in the Bears sights as well:
- Jonathan Baldwin from Pitt
- Jeff Maehl from Oregon
- Dane Sanzenbacher from Ohio State
- Austin Pettis from Boise State
- Niles Paul from Nebraska
So it's quit "obvious" that Angelo & Ruskell plan to do some "extensive" maneuvering. Let's just hope that the "right"moves will-be-made. There's no margin for error this time-around....
