Steroids, Bad For Diabetes, but Wonders For My Psoriasis. A New Conundrum.

Steroids, Bad For Diabetes, but Wonders For My Psoriasis. A New Conundrum.

I am sure I have mentioned here before I have been afflicted with a litany of diseases.   I have had cancer, have diabetes and I also have psoriasis.  Out of all of them I think I hate psoriasis the most, I suppose I am a bit vain but my outward appearance is very important to me.

I know you are wondering how this relates to diabetes, well I am on steroids to treat hip bursitis.  Oh yeah, I also have hip bursitis.  The steroids have been amazing.  They make the pain go away and it has also cleared up my psoriasis.  I knew steroids were used to treat it so this side effect was not unexpected.

Now the question for me is I need to talk to a dermatologist and my doctors to find out if steroids are a viable treatment option given that steroids make my blood glucose levels spike.  I am sure this is most likely an option the doctors are unwilling to suggest because of that reason.   I know it is not as important to them to rid of the psoriasis as it is to keep my diabetes under control.

I want to look into topical steroid options and see if it would be possible to treat it that way.  I do not know if there is a difference in the way it affects my diabetes but I am willing to give it a shot.  Also, “shot” see what I did there, I am witty.
