One of my favorite remedies for hypoglycemia is Chex Mix Muddy Buddies. It is Chex with some mysterious type mix of peanut butter and chocolate. There is white powder residue, which might be some sort of addictive drug based on how much I enjoy it.
I will go out of my way for it, I will purchase it ahead of time for those “just in case moments”. The only problem is that it goes above and beyond raising my blood sugar to healthy then to too high. I need to quit it, but it is sometimes difficult. Though with my new found control the highs are fleeting, it might be the worst thing of the best thing I have ever discovered.
I am not sponsored by the good people at Chex but if they made a diabetic friendly Muddy Buddies, I would sell out for a lifetime supply. I am not recommending this as a remedy as you can see it is not really the best, but my goodness is it tasty.
This blog is to hopefully begin a discussion among my readers, what kind of food do you like to eat to raise your low level, even if it is not the best? I know most if not all diabetics have some sort of guilty pleasure food. I should add I do not indulge often, but there are times when I just cannot help myself. I am not living dangerously. Usually if I need to raise a low I eat glucose tablets or drink a little juice. I have not come this far to let it all slip away.
