Today is American Diabetes Association Alert Day

The American Diabetes Association started this day (the fourth Tuesday of every March) as a wakeup call to the American public.  You are asked to take the diabetes risk test to find out if you are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.  It is for a good cause as well, besides your wellbeing, Boar’s Head will donate $5 dollars up to $50,000 to the American Diabetes Association for every test taken.

The test is simple and short, you are asked about weight, age, family history and any other factors for Type 2 diabetes.  It is believed that diabetes is passed through generations, usually skipping a generation.  As in my case my grandmother was diabetic and I guess I drew the lucky card.  Honestly, my sister is vegetarian, she would have been a better choice.  I am kidding, of course.

Taking this test is for precaution, it is not going to predict that you will become diabetic.  You owe it to yourself to take the test, especially if you have questioned whether or not you might be.  It is a small step that you can use as guidance as with any disease it is best to know early on.  After taking the test you will be given preventative tips.  More information can be found here.

Take the test and good luck.
