I Don't Have To Take Chemo Anymore

My Previous Blog > "The Wiggles and the 4th of July"

On Wednesday, July 6th Atia took her final dose of oral chemotherapy; the last one. She's finished. Fini. Finito. Fin!

No matter how you say it, it was THE moment of all moments and it happened in the blink of an eye, in the middle of the night, around 2am to be exact (on July 7th, actually).

Friends and family have always asked about how she does with taking her meds. They're surprised to learn that along the way she's shown minimal resistance.

The trick: Giving it to her after she's fallen asleep.

I've talked about this before; most of the time she doesn't even remember taking it, and that's why I HAD to video tape the last one. There was no way I was going to let her forget... when she's older she'll thank me. I think.

Don't forget, we're celebrating the end of Atia's treatment this Sunday, July 17th from 12:00 (noon) to 3:00 at the Chateau Ritz (9100 N. Milwaukee) in Niles, IL. Tickets are still available. http://celebrationoflife.charityhappenings.org/

Come join us for a life-size game of Candy Land, fun kid-friendly food, exciting games and music! You'll even get a chance to meet a few of us Ay, Mama! bloggers, including Ana Belaval from WGN-TV. And, Peach Carr from Project Runway will also be there!
