Happy Mother's Day 2011!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms
out there! I hope you are enjoying some much-deserved pampering and
outpouring of love from your families.

Last year on Mother's Day, I paid
homage to my mom. This year, I would like to pay tribute to another
very important mother figure in my life, my mother-in-law, Emma
Bradshaw.

It's not every day you hear someone
say they won the lottery when they met their in-laws, but I can
honestly say that I cannot imagine a better mother-in-law than Emma.
From the moment I first met her, when Bill and I had been dating only
a few months, she welcomed me into the family with open arms and has
been nothing but helpful, supportive, encouraging and loving ever
since.

Emma and my mother's personalities
could not be more different. Mami is a social butterfly and Emma
socializes in smaller circles. Mami loves flashy clothes and
everything over-the-top, and Emma is just as elegant, but more
reserved. Mami is not a huge fan of animals and Emma not only owns
two dogs, but is also passionate about animal rights and belongs to
several animal welfare societies. Mami loves to travel the world and
Emma prefers to stick closer to home.

However, both women are selfless,
caring and passionate about their families. They both care for their
children and grandchildren above everything else and protect their
loved ones with the fierceness of a lioness. They would do anything
to help out in a pinch, and they will both work tirelessly to fulfill
anything they put their minds to. I should be so lucky to be half the
woman, mother and grandmother that these two amazing women are. Come
to that, I should be so lucky to look half as good as they both do
when I'm their age!

I love living near Emma. I love the
fact that Dylan has a doting grandmother nearby, and I love to see
them spending time together. She has been such a help with Dylan that
I honestly don't know what I would do without her. I myself enjoy
her company so much that I often go to lunch or dinner with her
without Bill. She has not only become a surrogate mother to me, but a
friend and confidante as well.

I must be the luckiest daughter-in-law
in the world.

Happy Mother's day, Emma! We love you
so very, very much!
