Wishing all our readers a joyous Christmas and best wishes, from all of us at Ay Mama to you and yours!!!!
Being a parent gives Christmas an entirely new meaning. From the time you find out that your parents are really Santa to when you have children, Christmas isn't as fun. There is joy during the holiday season but there isn't anticipation and excitement over the big day. In fact, the first 2 Christmases for a child aren't very fun because they really don't understand what is going on. I remember my eldest's first Christmas. I was so anxious for Christmas morning to arrive and see her opening gifts. Well, she would rather play with the wrapping paper than with the gifts. I was very disappointed over her reaction. But, once she realized what came with this holiday, it hasn't been the same since.
This year we have 2 and a half children excited about Christmas. I say half because Andrea doesn't fully understant yet, but she gets very excited when her sister do when we are talking about Christmas, gifts, and Santa, but if she's alone she has no reaction to Christmas. They are all anxiously waiting for Christmas morning to open their gifts. They are constantly reminding us what they want. This is great because we in turn can remind them that they will get it as long as they behave. So, we have had exceptionally well behaved children for the last month.
As they can't wait to open gifts I can't wiat to see their reactions. My fondest memories of Christmas is when their eyes sparkle when they see holiday decorations at home, in the stores, or as they pass a very decorated home. Another great memory is seeing the expression on their faces when they get something they aren't expecting or just the sheer excitement of it all. I also cherish the different interpretations of Santa Claus's name from "Keikos," "Saucas," or "Sana Caus" and many more I can't remember. Anyway Christmas will definitely be fun for many years as long as we can keep believing and keep the spirit alive. Merry Christmas. Feliz Navidad. Joyeux Noel.
