The Happiest Place on Earth

A few weeks ago, my family went on vacation to Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.  This is a family tradition for Ken's family.  We try to go every 2-3 years together and 2010 was our year to go.

Before I met Ken, I had never been to Disney World.  He could not fathom that and suggested that we go to Disney for our honeymoon, which we did.  Many people thought it was a bit strange, but we did it anyway.  It was a blast...the most memorable vacation for us ever.

It's funny with Disney; either people love it there or hate it.  I know people who live for Disney vacations and those who will never go.

For me, I love Disney.  Even after 20 years, I still think it IS the happiest place on Earth.  When I am there, reality is gone.  All of my problems seem to disappear a least for a little while and I get caught up in my surroundings.  Those fairytales I remember from my childhood come back.  I start to believe again that I can do anything and all of my dreams will come true.

And seeing Disney through the eyes of Cooper and Cole made it even more magical for me.  They were truly amazed by everything and loved meeting all of their favorite characters.    Everything was exciting for them, even the little stuff like bus rides.

We are home again, but I am trying to keep that Disney magic alive here in Chicago.  I need to remember that I can do anything and that my dreams can come true.  I also need to pass on that thinking to Cooper and Cole.

Here are some family photos from our trip.

  • Lisa, for me Disney is great for young and old. The experience of seeing your children enjoy it and be in awe is totally priceless. When we were there this summer it was totally amazing. Since I know my youngest won't remember much, I can't wait to go again and have her be in awe of this experience. We went 4 months ago and my 4 year old daughter will suddently burst out singing, "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me," or "It's a small world after all...," And this is all it takes for everyone to begin singing. I got really excited reading this, because all my memories came back. Can't wait to go back. I'm so glad you guys enjoyed this as well. By the way we honeymooned there also and my husband and I felt like we were at a candy store, money in our pockets and so much to choose from.

Veronica - Thanks for the post. When I read your entry a few months ago, I started getting excited about our trip. Glad to have a fellow Disney fan among us.

  • Haven't yet been, but plan to go someday with the girls. I think between you, Lisa, and Veronica, you've convinced me! ::)

Anita - Thank you for the comment. If you can, I would take the girls there someday. It is a blast!

Anita, if there is any place you need to take your girls it is Disney. I think Lisa will concur with me. It took us about a year to save but it is worth every penny.
