My husband Bill wraps up "Father's Day" week with a brief message. Happy Father's Day!
I have to admit that I was less than thrilled to hear I was expected to write the Father's Day post for this blog. I was never a great writer and subjecting the readers of this blog to my ramblings seems unkind. With that in mind, I will keep it short.
First off, Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there. Congratulations on another year well done. As a third-year father, I am only beginning to realize that this fatherhood thing takes a lot of effort. I can easily think of five different occasions over the course my life where my father should have strangled his son. Of course I'm talking about my brother Mike, not me. Thanks for not strangling Mike, Dad.
And finally, on behalf of all fathers out there, please don't buy us any stupid stuff to celebrate this day. This includes ties, novelty golf balls, and t-shirts with witty slogans. We don't need it. Being a father is one of the best things in life and is truly its own reward.
