Dear Mel,
I need advice for how to cheer up.
-In A Funk
Dear In A Funk,
Feelings follow thought.
If you think about sad things, then you will feel sad. If you think about happy things, then you will feel happy. Are you worried about the future? Are you regretting the past? Feelings cannot decipher between past, present, and future. Stay in the present and forget about the rest.
There's my sophisticated answer. Do that first, but also take a look at this list of how to cheer up:
1. Go for a jog. Exercise helps, I swear.
2. Eat your favorite food. A carton of Ben & Jerry's, perhaps?
3. Watch a funny movie. The Hangover is sure to put you in a good mood.
4. Listen to Christmas music. Even if it is only July.
5. Laugh.
6. Avoid drama.
7. Go to the pool and catch some rays.
8. Have a DP (dance party) in your room to your favorite song. My happy tune suggestion? High of 75 by Relient k.
9. Count your blessings.
10. Try to choose one of your friends that you would rather be. Whenever I do this, I always come to the conclusion that I'd rather be me than anyone else.
In no time, you'll feel better and rejuvenated for life. And don't forget to smile.
-Mel
