School gon' make me lose my mind

Dear Mel,

I have a problem with school. I try SO hard and study a ton, but my grades don't reflect my efforts. It's annoying because my parents think I don't try because I still get B's and C's instead of A's. It's not fair and I don't know how to convince them and get my grades higher. Help please.

Dear Frustrated,

The first thing you need to do is show your parents that you're working. Do homework at the kitchen table, right under their noses. Wear a pair of reading glasses so you look extra smart. Don't text/go on Facebook while they're around, either. Keep this up for a while. Your parents will  realize that you're trying.
As for the whole moving those B's and C's up to A's thing, there's a lot of stuff you can do. Get a tutor for those pesky trigonometry problems. Watch online tutorials to help you with your physics labs. Ask your English teacher to proofread your essay before you hand it in.
Don't worry, there's more.
Turn in ALL assignments on time. Homework points are almost effortless to get, so don't slack off on that. Keep your ears open for extra credit opportunities. Study days before the test.
Whatever happens, always do your best. Before you know it, your parents will be proud of you and your report card will be taped to the fridge.
