A Cook County Jail Officer may soon face charges after surveillance cameras captured him sucker punching an inmate for what appears to be unprovoked reasoning. Officer Rico Palomino was captured walking up to the inmate and punching him in the face, causing the inmates mouth to bleed profusely.
Palomino claimed the inmate "turned around abruptly" and grabbed his shirt, although the footage doesn't reflect the officers allegation. The officer also claimed that he had no choice in the matter but to act in self defense and create "a reasonable distance between himself and the detainee" by striking him in the face reports NBC Chicago.
