Chicago Gallery Snack Report: Friday, November 12 to Friday, December 3

What better way to end off the night but with cookies? Oh, First Fridays is a cash bar, by the way. Straight out of a David Cross routine, you've got to buy tickets and then exchange those for your drinks. Drink tickets are non-refundable, so figure out what you're going to drink before you pay for your tickets. We bought $20 in tickets. I had a 10-ticket Bombay Sapphire martini, Steph had a 5-ticket beer, and then with our remaining 5 tickets we split one last beer. I kind of wanted to have a few more drinks and then go watch Black Swan, but some friends called to invite us to the Brauhaus in Lincoln Square for sausage and boots of beer. Which was great. Black Swan was great too, we saw it a few days later.

Chicago Gallery Snack Report: Friday, July 2nd through Sunday, July 4th

by Jeriah HildwinePhotos by Stephanie Burke It’s easy to make some broad, sweeping statement about what the Fourth of July stands for, and easier still to say something really stupid in the process.  So, I’m going to avoid all that, and just stick to the facts.  About snacks. Friday, July 02, 2010 Friday night was... Read more »

by Jeriah Hildwine and Stephanie Burke It was a thin weekend in the arts, but the three shows we did attend were examples of strong, young, contemporary, mostly Chicago art. Hooray! Where the F*#K are YOU going? (7/2-7/4)

Another gripping installment in the ongoing saga of Where the F*#K are YOU going? Read on my friends, read on…  Well, the holiday weekend apparently failed to inspire much art. From my reckoning (which is usually a touch off, but good enough for government work) there are only 8 openings this entire weekend. This is... Read more »
