The Weekly Gallery Crawl: 6/3-6/5

This week the intrepid gallery crawler bears upon his back the Capitoline Wolf, aka the Etruscan She-Wolf, a much (date) debated sculpture of a female wolf, who, with the later-added (15th C.) twin babies, Romulus and Remus, is known as a statued manifestation of the founding sons of Rome. And now, for the Gallery Crawl…... Read more »

by Jeriah HildwinePhotos by Stephanie Burke This snack report is a bit of a roundup of the past few weeks.  We’ve been gearing up for the big gallery opening night next Friday, September 10th, and have gotten a bit behind on the reporting.  But we’ve still been going out, looking at art, and eating snacks,... Chicago Gallery Snack Report: Friday, April 30

The free lunches consisted of two sandwiches (turkey, chicken breast, or roast beef), which came on a really thick, tough bun (maybe more shelf stable?). They also came with some pasta with a pesto-like substance on 'em, fruit, and chips. I'm not going to lie, it wasn't the best lunch I've ever had, but it was free, and that's what counts. And, despite their rather uninspired contents, these press lunches disappeared almost the instant they were set out; it was hit or miss whether we got one in time each day. So, I guess that's the lesson: there IS such a thing as a free lunch, but only if you're press, and they're not spectacular, and even so, the early bird totally gets the, um, free lunch. Anyway, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, so thanks for the lunch, Artropolis! I'm going to end this here before I drag out any more hackneyed expressions.

Chicago Gallery Snack Report: February 20th through 28th

by Jeriah Hildwine The weekly antics of your favorite art-world duo: Jeriah Hildwine and Stephanie Burke Last Saturday, Feb. 20th, we wove on the Room-A-Loom at Swimming Pool, helped mash corn at MVSEVM, and participated in a bizarre cultish ritual at Floor Length and Tux, before invading some rich family’s house for Join The Lewis... Where the F*#K are YOU going? (02/26/10-02/28/10)

It’s that time again my friends. This weekend you’re getting three days work of maps. Saturday is a bit lean, but I figured I throw it up there just so ya know the plan. Also, unlike Friday and Sunday, the list is actually in reverse order. I’m going to AIC first, to see Eggleston! Shit,... Read more »
